Nike Air Max Assail 3 Reviewed by Michael
I purchased a pair of these trail running shoes in early 2006.
- Soles 4/5
- Stiff with an agressive tread. There is air cushioning in the heel but not much cushioning from the sole material itself.
- Toes 4/5
- The stiffness of the sole provides some incidental coverage against kicking a wall, but there is no rigid enclosure for the toe.
There is however a waterproof band that wraps around the sides of the toes, which is not present in many running shoes.
- Upper/Vamp 4/5
- The upper is a loose mesh-like material. Not water resistant at all, but good for breathability, and has a fast drying time.
- Misc 2/5
- The loop on the heel is small, uncomfortable to use, and weak. I accidentally ripped mine within about a month, as it is not stitched in very well.
- Style 5/5
- I got mine in solid black, which is great for not showing stains.
- Overall 4/5
- Negatives such as the stiffness and weak heel loops aside this is the best shoe for Parkour I've found so far.
